Our Story
The Heart Behind Queen City Gardeners
Queen City Gardeners is a husband-and-wife team founded on a shared love of beauty, craftsmanship, and the natural world. We are both North Carolina natives with roots dating back to the 1600's. We started this business as a way to build a different life for our family and our five children—one rooted in meaningful work, creativity, and a deeper connection to the environment.
Amy is a Master Gardener trained through NC State Extension and a professional chemist, bringing a rare blend of scientific expertise and sustainable gardening knowledge to every project. Her work is grounded in soil health, plant chemistry, and long-term ecological balance.
Her husband brings over 30 years of experience as a graphic designer, transforming Amy’s garden concepts and plant expertise into elegant, to-scale garden plans that are both beautiful and easy to follow.
Together, we blend art and science to create refined, sustainable gardens designed to grow more beautiful over time. We take on a limited number of clients so each project receives our full attention, care, and integrity.
We build gardens not just for today—but for the families who will enjoy them for years to come.
Our Philosophy
At Queen City Gardeners, we believe a garden should be beautiful, balanced, and built to last. Our work is rooted in sustainability, thoughtful design, and science-backed practices that honor both the land and the people who live on it. We prioritize native and well-adapted plants, and we strive to limit the use of pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers whenever possible. Every garden we create is intentional—designed to grow more beautiful with time, support the environment, and bring daily joy.
